Dr. Sina Matin has been appointed as the northeast regional board member for the Texas Association of Bariatric Surgery. TABS was established in 2005 as a resource for physicians, bariatric surgeons, and weight loss surgery patients. Through TABS, members can share ideas, access referral networks, and participate in patient education on health and wellness. The TABS membership includes 65 physicians and surgeons across the state and is governed by a volunteer board of directors.
With his appointment to the TABS board, Dr. Matin adds to his list of medical associations and certifications. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is in private practice with Surgical Group on North Texas and works within the Baylor Health Care System. Dr. Matin is a General Surgeon with additional training in advanced laparoscopic surgery, robotic surgery, and bariatric surgery. He follows a consultative approach with his patients and is known for his outgoing personality and caring bedside manner.
After receiving his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia, Dr. Matin completed his surgical residency and research fellowship at the University of Texas in Galveston (UTMB). He then trained in advanced laparoscopic surgery at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston and as faculty at UTMB.
Dr. Matin is active in and recognized by the following organizations: the Texas Medical Association, American College of Surgeons, Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society, American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, and Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons.
